June 2012

Now it’s already June outside. The first year of the intensive training program is over and it means that I have a lot of memories to share. The whole year of dance had a big positive influence on me. First of all I want to say that I was challenged enough in the dance classes and I’m really happy about it. I think if there’s no challenge, there’s no growth.  During the year I felt that I developed my flexibility, awareness, memory and I become more adaptable for the different body languages of different choreographers. It’s going to be very valuable for my future work.
Second of all I appreciate that the school gave me a chance to meet a lot of different people from everywhere in the world. My teachers and classmates are from different countries and it was so interesting to interact with them verbally and through the movement.  My most memorable days were our dance shows. I think the life behind the stage and on the stage is worth a lot just to have it. Every day while the shows were running from morning until 10pm in the evening we were at school and I totally forgot about everything else besides the school life. Even when I came home I was still thinking about my notes and changes for the dances, I was into the creative process all the time. I tried to warm up properly every day before the show in order to prevent my body from sustaining any kind of injury. It was very important, because I had a responsibility to perform my parts in the dances with a healthy, physical and emotional body each of the six evenings and more. Besides these little worries about injuries I tried to push my boundaries more and more each performing night, even if I was sometimes struggling with tiredness.
Now I realized even more how much I love my dance life.

Update in my dance life:

I’m creating a new page… Almost four months passed then I began to study at the School of Toronto Dance Theater. “How I feel about first semester?”- You could ask me one day.
These months of study were amazing experience of my physical, intellectual growing, my adaptation in the new environment, communication and collaboration with new people. I can say that every day of dancing gives me “oxygen” for life. After a long day of dance I feel that I’m tired, but often I’m very satisfy of my interesting and rich work. Also I feel that my body getting stronger, my flexibility is improving and my understanding of myself as a dancer is becoming much clear. Life of an artist as any person’s life fills of ups and downs really and figuratively. Sometimes I can’t make a clear movement or a dance combination that a teacher asked me to do, but I’m open to try until I can get it. The school helps me a lot to build my stamina, my confident in everything that I’m doing in my profession and in life.
I’m looking forward to continue my study at STDT in January and to start new creations.
